2. when i run naked from my bathroom to my bedroom i get a rushing feeling in my chest and stomach
3. I got into bed and it felt especially soft and comfortable i got an urge to kick my legs a lot and smile really big, and make strange excited noises
4. i suddenly realized something i was supposed to remember and didn't, my breath gets short for a moment, and my heart feels like it's skipping a beat
5. when i see a good friend or my boyfriend walking towards me, my heart feels like it's fluttering
6. i was sitting still for a long time, my eyes began to feel very very heavy and i struggle to stay awake

5. when i look at my cell phone outside at night, it blinds me to everything around except the light coming from the phone. scary.

ReplyDelete1. dancing nude makes me open to the whole world, friendlier, and infinitely happy.
2. i am moving into a serious relationship which makes me feel a little anxious, but also excited, both of which i feel as weights in my womb area.
3. being with bunches of pals makes my head feel as though it is not connected.
4. when i feel ian near me and i'm in a calm and protected mood, i get the biggest damn butterflies.
5. cluttered work spaces make me feel icky sticky and unproductive.
6. when i see my mom and dad for the first time in a while... i can't even describe the mix of emotions, feelings and memories that make me want to laugh and cry and jump in their arms.
7. stress tends to make me numb from any other feelings.
8. seeing my old roommate fills my chest with a bubble that won't pop.

1. sewing is an activity that holds off my tiredness.
2. when i finger paint my fingers are happy and they enjoy the cold.
3. i am smelling and tasting my coffee. yay.
4.i hear the wind, and it makes me wish i were a leaf... or a raptor.
5. i like doing my dishes because playing in water is fun-filled.
6. my fingers feel chalky from the dried paint. i don't like it.
7. the smell of campfire is wonderful for a good rush of nostalgia.
8. my feet love the feel of forest floor: sticks breaking, plants cushioning, earth revamping.
Interoceptive:
ReplyDelete1. I love the boost just after drinking coffee--I find my body 'deepening' into focus if I'm studying or moving, but if I don't use the energy, then I feel anxious.
2. I check in with my body before I eat any food: I ask myself, "Body, do you want this?" and if my intuition says yes, then I feast. If my intuition says no, then I let it pass. Often my body will actually lean forward for yes and backward for no.
3. I notice a surge of energy rise like a wave when I tuck my tailbone, engage my quads, and lift my knee caps while standing.
4. I often notice that I'm not breathing very deeply, and when I intentionally change my tense shoulders often drop.
5. My feet tingle in different ways after wearing different types of shoes. My Dansko clogs make my feet tingle sharply, whereas my tennis shoes make dull tingles.
6. I often feel the motion-sickness change set on if I sit facing sideways on the bus. Although I hate being motion-sick (I puked SO many times as a kid!), I enjoy tracking the nausea through my body, starting in my intestines. By tracking it, I can often keep from getting sick.
7. I love the moment- often found in meditative moments during yoga or dance- when my in-breath becomes crystal clear. The best way I can describe it is that the breath becomes 'white.'
8. I like noticing how much of my body moves with a breath: my back, shoulders, belly, quads tighten, head moves slightly back with the inhale.
Exteroceptive:
1. My awareness perks up when I hear someone mention my name in a conversation that I'm not part of.
2. Sometimes I almost cry at the beauty of food: the color, shape, texture, taste.
3. I like moving my foot from the warm spot in my bed to a new, cold spot. The cold makes the sheets feel smoother.

5.I like tracking my body's change from interoceptive to exteroceptive as I wake up. At first I'm aware of heat, heartbeat, and gravity; then I start being aware of light, sounds, and breakfast-cooking smells.
6. I often know what time it is by listening for the train whistles.
7. Late October and early March are the best seasons for the intense quality of sunlight on gray clouds.
8. I love when I'm cooking and go outside to bring out the compost or something, and returning in to smell the meal anew.
